Movies tell real life stories that were changed during different historical events. Kyrgyz Cultural Movie Night offers you movies from the Golden Era of Kyrgyz Cinematography as well as from modern days. What is unique about this tour is that you first meet and touch history of Kyrgyz and exponents in the Museum and then witness how they were practiced in real life in the Movie. Movies show insight that helps to understand decisions that Kyrgyz people made throughout different historical waves.


Kurmanjan Datka

The historical, epic drama, set in 19th century Central Asia, tells the true story of Kurmanjan Datka, a strong willed woman, who becomes the ruler of her country and saves the nation from total destruction when the Russians invade.

First Teacher

Set in the 1920s, following the Russian Civil War, a Red Army soldier is assigned to a remote outlier community in Kyrgyzstan to teach basic literacy and Soviet ideology. Little does he understand the age-old influence of nomadic culture and its influence, and effects, on the local population and their ways of life moving ahead.
