Day One:

  • Start on horseback towards Teskey-Torpuk Pass.
  • Enjoy panoramic views and a photo session at the pass.

Itinerary

Morning:
Depart from the shores of Son-Kul after breakfast. The lake, situated at over 3,000 meters, offers stunning early morning views.
Begin your ascent towards the Teskey Torpu pass. The journey will take you through vast pastures where you might encounter nomadic herders.
Afternoon:
Enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Continue your ride to the base of the Teskey Torpu pass. The terrain becomes more challenging as you approach, with the path winding through stunning alpine landscapes.
Evening:
Set up camp near the base of the pass. Enjoy a traditional dinner prepared by your guides. Spend the evening around the campfire, under the vast starry sky.

Morning: Visit the Han-Salyk Gorge, where you'll learn about the legend of Han Salyk and explore ancient burial sites and stone carvings.
Lunch: Opportunity to have lunch at the Zhon Bulak Pass, also planned are a photo session and rest.
Evening: Descend to the valley or the wintering site of Teshik for an overnight stay.

Morning: Start the day with horse games, allowing for a deep dive into the culture of the Kyrgyz people.
Day: Hike to the canyons of Teshik, Bak-Chetin, Zangi for sightseeing and photography.
Evening: Ascend the Kyrgyzhol ridge and descend to Zherge Tal, where dinner, overnight stay, and a meeting with an ensemble of komuz players and a master of komuz await.

Morning and Day: Journey through the pass to the village of Kuybyshev, from where you will head into the mountains and eventually reach the Naryn Bridge. This day offers even more opportunities to explore Kyrgyz landscapes and culture.

This tour is designed for intermediate to advanced riders due to the challenging terrain, including the ascent and descent of Teskey Torpo Pass. Participants should be comfortable riding for several hours each day, handling a horse in varied terrains, and have a good level of physical fitness. Beginners passionate about participating should contact us for a pre-tour assessment and advice on preparation.

What should I pack for the tour?

Participants should pack warm and waterproof clothing, as weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Essential items include a helmet (mandatory for riding), riding boots or sturdy shoes, gloves, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), a water bottle, and personal medication. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking.

How are the meals arranged, and can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

All meals are provided, from breakfast on Day 1 to dinner on Day 3, including a mix of local and campfire cuisine. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions and preferences with prior notice. Please inform us at the time of booking of any dietary needs.

What type of accommodation can I expect?

Accommodations include one night of camping near Teskey Torpo Pass with tents and sleeping mats provided, one night in a homestay in Jergetal Village for a cultural experience, and the final night in a comfortable guesthouse or hotel in Naryn. Accommodations are based on shared occupancy; single occupancy may be available upon request for an additional fee.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, all participants are required to have comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, and loss of property for the duration of the tour. Proof of insurance must be provided before the tour commences.

What safety measures are in place during the tour?

Safety is our top priority. All guides are trained in first aid and emergency response. A support vehicle will carry all luggage and supplies, staying within reach for most of the journey. Participants will be briefed on safety protocols, and an emergency evacuation plan is in place for the entire route.

How do I get to the starting point of the tour, and is transportation provided at the end?

Participants are responsible for their transportation to the designated meeting point in Naryn at the start of the tour. At the conclusion of the tour, transportation will be provided back to a central location in Naryn. Detailed instructions on how to reach the meeting point, including recommendations for local transport options, will be provided upon booking.
