The landscape of this mountain range is very barren. There are hardly any bushes or even trees. There is something meditative about riding. Wind, water and snow have shaped this landscape, which serves as pasture for the farmers' cattle, yaks and horses. It's hard to believe that people live here. And yet in the valleys there are yurts or homesteads that happily welcome travelers.

Border Zone Permit

Border Zone Permit for accessing destinations nearby the Chinese border.

Some of our tour destinations are within the Kyrygz Border Zone. To go over there requires a Border Zone Permit which is issued by the Kyrgyz authorities.

Mountain lake Kel Suu
Kel Suu is a faboulus lake. It's name translated from Kyrgyz means: 'Water is coming'. During times of small rain or little melting water the lake may disappear. Then, within few days the water comes back.

Impressive force of water
The landscape is formed by the water. Waterfalls show in an impressive way how much energy is in the water of the mountains. The waterfall Schaar is the highest in Central Asia with almost 300m.
