Learning history, culture and methods behind Kyrgyz cooking

You can learn to cook beshbarmaak in any corner of Kyrgyzstan, but it will never be as authentic and enriched with explanation and historical facts as this special experience on offer here at the Naryn Museum. Ask any Kyrgyz the birthplace of the dish beshbarmaak, and the answer will be immediate - Naryn. Learn not just the history and tradition behind this dish, but learn how to cook it yourself!

Participate in this cooking class to prepare and enjoy one of Naryn’s most popular dishes – beshbarmak, otherwise known as “5 Fingers”.

Understand elements of Kyrgyz nomadic cooking, popular dishes and their importance to tradition and culture.


Price Includes:

  • Cooking beshbarmak from scratch;
  • Beshbarmak workshop related ingredients;
  • Beshbarmak tasting with snacks and drinks (e.g. akserke – broth with sour cream, tea, different types of bread);
  • Quick tour in the Museum related to beshbarmak history;
  • Local guide and English-speaking interpreter;
  • Recipe card

  • Location: Naryn Oblast Historical Museum
  • Time and Schedule: Upon reservation, with 3 hours notice. Last classes start at 4.30pm daily
  • Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Departure / Return: CBT Naryn Tourist Information Center
